For the Chester Beatty Annual Lecture this year, Edmund de Waal presented Good for a Single Journey: Netsuke and Stories in a Fractured World.
In this illustrated lecture he recounted the story of discovering his great uncle's collection of netsuke and how this unexpected inheritance led him to explore ideas of exile and migration in both his writing and his artistic practice.
